The one and only teacher of the year, Mr. Weaver is officially the 2017-18 CHS principal! Throughout the hallways, many people have been talking about what Mr. Weaver is planning to do, and the changes he is planning to make in our school. Here are some answers:
Q. What excites you the most about your new position?
A. I am most excited about the opportunity to impact students beyond the walls of my classroom. As a teacher, I am limited in this capacity. However, as building principal and the school's instructional leader, I have the chance to work with teachers in an effort to improve all of CHS students' learning outcomes and lives.
Q.How do you plan to improve the environment at CHS?
A. I will improve CHS' environment by having high expectations of staff and students and holding individuals accountable for said expectations.
Q.What does it mean to be a Cavalier?
A. Everything. I've been a Cavalier for most of my existence, whether as a student, teacher, or - next year - as principal. That's why CHS' axioms - representing ourselves with dignity, class, and pride; "It's great to be a Cavalier"; and "Once a Cavalier, always a Cavalier" - are so dear to me.
Make sure you congratulate Mr. Weaver when you see him in the hallway! Written by: Sophia Faulkerson. Edited by: Ali Lightle.
The Word of the Week is generation. Be the generation that shines and breaks all ties with our past mistakes. Although Mandela has recently passed, he meant those words of wisdom and we should take in the fact that he said those words to make our generation better, and showed that his needed us to take their legacy and turn our generations around.
